Title Purpose


The Finance Officer role is a critical position that ensures the financial integrity and accountability of CASFOD's programs. The successful candidate will provide timely and accurate financial information, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements. This role will support all CASFOD programs, collaborating with team members across different states to achieve financial transparency and accountability.


FINANCE OFFICER


The following defines the roles and responsibilities of the finance officer.



  • Support budget preparation and budgetary control for the effective implementation of financial plans.

  • Prepare periodic financial reports for dissemination and decision-making. 

  • Prepare monthly budget vs actual spending project report.

  • Prepare cashbooks and bank reconciliation statements for different organizational accounts.  

  • Follow up and process prepaid expenses, accruals, etc., 

  • Support the project managers to ensure that monthly cash forecasts are timely submitted.

  • Manage the operations of the QuickBooks system in the field office to meet CASFOD spending and financial reporting requirements. 

  • Undertake accuracy checks to ensure all transactions entered in QuickBooks are correct.

  • Manage and report on standard and unique organizational chart of accounts. 

  • Prepare payment vouchers and maintain efficient expense documentation.

  • Implement Internal financial controls & payment processes for the attainment of value for money at all times. 

  • Ensure all expected costs are timely and accurately recovered from the project.

  • Support the accurate and timely payment of statutory deductions. 

  • Support to ensure withholding tax credit notes are promptly collected for distribution to vendors/consultants. 

  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by your supervisor from time to time to support the achievement of organizational goals.


Qualifications and Experience



  • We are looking for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related Financial/Business Administration field.

  • The candidate should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role with at least 1 year of working experience in managing financial and administrative systems for donor-funded projects. S/he should possess experience using accounting software (preferably Intuit QuickBooks online).

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working in a conflict-affected State.

  • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking, and planning skills.

  • Fair monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.

  • Knowledge of project cycle management.
