Job Description
We are currently looking to engage a highly competent and result-oriented Senior Associate, Procurement and Category Management with strong personal & professional integrity to join our dynamic workforce.
Responsibilities
The Senior Associate, Procurement and Category Management will support the University's procurement function by overseeing the efficient management of assigned categories, supplier relationships, and procurement activities
He/she is expected to;
- Develop and execute category-specific procurement strategies to maximize value, minimize risk, and control costs.
- Conduct market analysis and spend reviews to identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements.
- Monitor category spend performance and ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Implement competitive bidding processes to ensure the best value is obtained for all procurement categories; Identify and evaluate
- potential suppliers to ensure high standards of service, quality, and price competitiveness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term value creation and partnership.
- Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that procurement strategies are aligned with business needs.
- Draft, review, and negotiate supplier contracts, ensuring that terms and conditions comply with legal, financial, and regulatory requirements.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ cognate experience, 2 of which must be in Category Management.
- Prior procurement/supply experience in the construction industry will be an added advantage.
- A strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in higher education.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders and manage their priorities.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Proactive and adaptable in addressing the evolving needs of academic and administrative units
