- The Grants Officer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant proposals, managing grant applications, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
- The role supports the organization’s financial sustainability by securing funds from foundations, government agencies, corporations, and international donors.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research and Identification:
- Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities from local, national, and international donors.
- Maintain a database of funding opportunities, donor profiles, and application deadlines.
- Track donor priorities and trends to align funding opportunities with organizational goals.
Proposal Development:
- Prepare high-quality, compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather accurate data, budgets, and project plans for proposals.
- Ensure all proposals align with donor guidelines and organizational priorities.
Grant Management and Compliance:
- Monitor grant implementation to ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
- Prepare periodic narrative and financial reports for donors in collaboration with finance and program teams.
- Track grant deliverables, timelines, and budgets, and flag any issues for resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of grants, contracts, and related correspondence.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Respond to donor inquiries and provide timely updates on funded projects.
- Represent the organization at donor meetings, workshops, and networking events.
Reporting and Monitoring:
- Work with program teams to gather data and monitor the impact of grant-funded projects.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Support the evaluation of projects to demonstrate the effectiveness of funded initiatives.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, Public Administration, Finance or a related field.
- 2 - 4 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, or fundraising, preferably within an NGO.
- Proven track record of successfully securing grants from foundations, governments, or international donors.
- Ability to ensure accuracy in documentation, budgets, and donor reporting.
- Experience in grant writing and proposal development with a demonstrable success rate.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and reporting software.
- Understanding of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and techniques.
- Passion for social impact and commitment to gender equality and community development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of donor requirements and funding mechanisms.
- Experience managing relationships with local and international stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
