- The Account Officer is responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations, preparing financial reports, and supporting the organization’s financial health and growth. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of financial statements and general ledger entries.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure the timely fulfillment of statutory requirements for both outsourced and internal staff, in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Monitor and update internal financial controls and procedures.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial decision-making.
- Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technology, and regulations.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- High level of accuracy in data entry and financial analysis.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication for presenting financial data.
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Professional certifications such as ICAN, CPA, ACCA, or CMA (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting or a related role.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and financial audits.
