Job Summary
The Head of Investment is responsible for driving large-scale deposit mobilization and retail investment growth through innovative strategies and collaborative execution. Leading a team of at least six, the role will focus on achieving the annual investment target by leveraging existing sales channels, merchant partnerships, and specialized investment squads. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of leadership, strategic planning, and operational expertise to build a sustainable and competitive investment portfolio.
Job Details
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the Embedded Investment strategy to meet quarterly targets.
- Contribute/ consult on the rollout of investment products, including retail savings and fixed deposit solutions with innovative features.
- Collaborate with other Embedded Finance verticals (Lending and Payments) to create seamless cross-sell opportunities, such as transitioning BNPL customers into retail investors.
Team Management & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of six, including specialized investment squads and key channel partners, to drive target achievement.
- Work closely with existing sales teams to engage customers and merchants, ensuring a coordinated approach to investment mobilization.
- Align team activities with marketing and product support units to optimize customer acquisition and retention.
Market Development & Partnership Management:
- Drive customer engagement through partnerships with merchants, leveraging their platforms for targeted investment campaigns.
- Collaborate with growth managers and affiliate networks to penetrate underutilized regions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders to expand the reach of investment offerings.
Product Innovation & Customer Experience:
- Drive customer-centric investment solutions, such as free transfers for liquidation, personalized portfolio recommendations, and improved onboarding processes.
- Provide insight into product enhancements based on customer feedback and market analysis to stay competitive.
- Collaborate with tech and product teams to ensure smooth user experience, from onboarding to investment maturity.
Marketing & Outreach:
- Collaborate with the marketing team on design and delivery of targeted marketing campaigns, including digital platforms, email and other outreach, to attract and retain investors.
- Introduce and promote referral incentives in collaboration with key stakeholders, encouraging customers to onboard new investors.
- Optimize merchant partnerships for broader visibility by placing ads on merchant platforms.
Risk Management:
- Monitor market trends and competitive pressures, adapting strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
- Collaborate with the operations team to Implement operational efficiencies to reduce onboarding delays and ensure smooth execution of investment activities.
- Get insights to track customer behavior, investment trends, and performance metrics.
- Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and attract new investors.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including customer acquisition and retention rates, average ticket sizes, and reinvestment roll-over rates.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the Embedded Finance Lead for continuous improvement of investment operations.
- Analyze and optimize investment squad performance to ensure the achievement of individual and team targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree is an advantage).
- · 8+ years of experience in retail banking, wealth management, or investment products.
- Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing teams and meeting ambitious targets.
- Strong knowledge of investment products, customer acquisition strategies, and financial services in Nigeria.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and analytics.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to drive execution and foster innovation.
