Position Summary:




  • The Finance Intern will provide support to the finance team in the day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, document preparation, and filing. The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in NGO financial management, donor compliance, and accounting processes.



Key Responsibilities:



Financial Documentation and Recordkeeping:




  • Assist in maintaining proper filing systems for financial documentation (both hardcopy and electronic).

  • Support in reviewing, stamping, and organizing payment vouchers, receipts, and supporting documents.

  • Ensure financial documents are scanned and uploaded into digital archives.



Data Entry and Accounting Support:




  • Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets under supervision.

  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash reconciliation.

  • Support the preparation of cash and payment request forms.



Financial Reporting Assistance:




  • Support in compiling financial reports for internal use and donor requirements.

  • Help in tracking expenses against approved budgets and identifying variances.



Compliance and Audit Preparation:




  • Ensure all financial transactions are supported by appropriate documentation and authorization.

  • Assist in preparing documentation required for internal and external audits.



General Finance and Admin Support:




  • Participate in finance-related trainings and team meetings.

  • Perform other administrative and finance tasks as requested by the Finance Officer.



Requirements:




  • Education:  Recent serving NYSC graduate in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.



Skills:




  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.



Desirable:




  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).

  • Previous volunteering or internship experience in finance or NGO sector.

  • Willing to abide with the IAIDI Nigeria code of conduct
