Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present high-quality meals according to restaurant or hotel standards.
Supervise and guide kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and proper food handling.
Design and update menus in collaboration with the executive chef or management, considering seasonal availability and customer preferences.
Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining quality, taste, and presentation.
Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and ensure optimal use of ingredients to reduce waste.
Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Train, mentor, and evaluate junior kitchen staff to maintain a skilled team.
Oversee cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment maintenance.
Stay updated with food trends and incorporate innovative techniques into the menu.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure customer satisfaction and address any kitchen-related issues.
Requirements
Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a high-volume or fine dining establishment.
Culinary school diploma or professional certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, international cuisines, and kitchen equipment.
