We are looking for a diligent and proactive Field Risk Officer to support the Risk Department in conducting on-field credit risk analyses and KYC (Know Your Customer) activities for prospective clients.
This role involves assessing borrower behavior, verifying loan utilization, identifying potential risks, and providing timely feedback on customer and portfolio conditions.
It is crucial for minimizing default and fraud risks and for supporting loan recovery efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Field Visits: Conduct field visits to verify client information, assess business operations, and monitor collateral
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate credit risks, implementing strategies to minimize potential losses.
Documentation and Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with the in-house credit policies, regulations, and laws.
Collaboration: Work with internal stakeholders, such as credit committees, risk management teams, and operations departments.
Identify and report credit, operational, and reputational risks observed at the customer level.
Support the monitoring and recovering of high-risk or delinquent loan accounts.
Gather intelligence from the field to prevent fraud, default, or unethical practices.
Assist in the enforcement of credit policies and field risk guidelines.
Reports: Submit daily or weekly field risk reports with clear observations and recommendations.
Escalate suspicious activity, early warning signs, or red flags to the Risk or Recovery team.
Collaborate with Loan Officers, Recovery Officers, and Branch Managers to ensure portfolio quality.
Perform ad hoc field investigations and background verification as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates should possess an HND/BSc in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field with 0 – 2 years of experience in field operations, loan monitoring, or customer verification.
Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
Good communication and report writing skills.
Basic Excel and Microsoft knowledge.
Ability to work independently and travel frequently within assigned territories.
Familiarity with SME or micro-lending processes is an added advantage.
