Role Overview 



The Finance Officer will ensure the effective and transparent management of the organisation’s financial resources, supporting the proper utilisation of funds from donors, sponsors, and other income sources. Working closely with the Finance Lead, the role will implement and maintain financial systems, processes, and procedures that strengthen budgeting, financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. The Finance Officer will play a key role in safeguarding financial integrity and supporting the organisation’s mission of advancing women’s advocacy, gender equity, and political inclusion. 



Key Responsibilities 



Financial Management & Reporting 




  • Prepare, analyse, and present accurate and timely financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders. 

  • Maintain proper accounting records, ledgers, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. 

  • Monitor the organisation’s financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations. 

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. 



Budgeting & Forecasting 




  • Collaborate with the Finance Lead on annual and project-based budgeting and financial planning. 

  • Monitor budget utilisation and provide variance analysis with recommendations for corrective actions. 

  • Contribute to financial modelling and projections to support strategic decision-making. 



Compliance & Internal Controls 




  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, including the preparation and remittance of statutory payments. 

  • Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of required documentation and implementation of audit recommendations. 

  • Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity. 



Accounts Payable & Receivable 




  • Process payment requests, requisitions, and invoices accurately and promptly. 

  • Monitor staff advances, ensure timely retirements, and reconcile accounts. 

  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions for audit readiness. 



Operational Support 




  • Provide technical support to programme teams on financial processes and compliance requirements. 

  • Assist with financial reviews for proposals to support resource mobilisation efforts. 



Key Requirements 




  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 

  • Minimum of 4 years and maximum of 8 years progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an NGO, civic-tech, or social impact organisation. 

  • ACA certification (required). 

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting. 

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and digital tools (Excel, Google Workspace). 

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and documentation ability. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling financial information. 



Work Conditions 




  • Hybrid role (combination of remote and in-office work). 

  • Salary: ₦350,000 – ₦400,000
