Role Overview
The Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining NADA’s financial integrity through effective financial management, auditing, and compliance.
The role involves managing statutory remittances, ensuring timely reconciliations, and preparing accurate reports to support decision-making.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and financial systems, with practical experience in auditing, PAYE, pension, and tax filings. To be successful, you will bring/have: Key Areas of Accountability
Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Record all financial transactions accurately in the approved accounting software (QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Wave).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with NADA’s Accounting Policy.
- Monitor financial performance and provide variance analyses and recommendations.
- Support the Head of Operations in preparing financial forecasts and budgets.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure full compliance with all tax and statutory remittance obligations (PAYE, VAT, Pension, Withholding Tax, etc.).
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies during financial reviews or audits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards and financial regulations.
Bank Reconciliation and Treasury Management:
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies within five (5) business days.
- Monitor inflows and outflows to maintain healthy cash flow and working capital.
- Track outstanding invoices, manage payables, and ensure prompt settlement of obligations.
Expense Management and Approvals:
- Enforce pre-approval protocols for all organizational expenses based on authorization limits.
- Review and validate supporting documents for reimbursements and vendor payments.
- Ensure all expense claims comply with the Accounting Policy and have appropriate documentation.
Payroll and Statutory Deductions:
- Compute and remit all statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, NSITF, ITF, etc.) as required by law.
Financial Systems and Data Security:
- Ensure all financial data is accurately recorded, backed up, and stored securely.
- Manage access rights to financial platforms, ensuring only authorized personnel can view or edit data.
- Recommend automation or process improvements for financial workflows
QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in accounting and /or finance management
- Similar/relevant experience in accounting and finances for 3 – 5 years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial software
- Ability to communicate effectively, with a solid command of both spoken and written English
- Responds to requests and queries in a timely manner
- Sound planning and organizational skills, and a proven ability to meet deadlines - must be outcome driven and accountable
- Good information-sharing/ communication skills in communication with staff and partners
- Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for detail, showing initiative and working independently
- Commitment to the vision, mission, values, principles, and aims of NADA
- Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with incoming surge teams in the event of emergencies
- Fluency (Verbal and Written) in English is required.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

- Experience in the NGO sector preferred
