Core Job Responsibilities
Field Operations & Compliance:
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in the field to ensure adherence to HSE standards, policies, and local/federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Risk Management & Technical Authority (TA2):Conduct Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP), Bow Tie risk assessments, and manage Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Safety Leadership & Culture:
- Lead high-level HSE initiatives, mentor junior staff, and foster a strong safety culture through active coaching, training, and behavioral safety observation.
Incident Investigation:
- Lead serious incident investigations, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective/preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Field Auditing & Inspection:
- Perform regular site audits, inspections of machinery/equipment, and verify that safe work practices are followed (e.g., Permit to Work, LOTO, Confined Space Entry).
Environmental Stewardship:
- Manage field environmental compliance, including waste management, spill prevention, and pollution control.
- Emergency Response:Develop and test emergency response plans (e.g., H2S release, fire, medical evacuation) and lead in site emergency situations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR).
- Successful closure rates of audit findings and corrective actions.
- Improvement in field compliance scores
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
- Generally 8+ years of active field experience in E&P (Exploration & Production) or industrial safety management.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related safety field.
Certifications:
- NEBOSH IGC, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent, with ISO 14001/45001 knowledge highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of safety tools (e.g., Fire/Explosion modeling, SIL, HAZID) and relevant industry standards.
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to influence contractors and management.
Working Conditions:
- This is a field-based role, with high-frequency, on-site, or remote location attendance required, often on a rotation basis.
- Involves working closely with engineering teams and contractors, often in high-risk environments.
