Job Summary
- The Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests, creating a welcoming and refined atmosphere that aligns with the standards of a premium restaurant, clubhouse and event environment.
- The role is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing reservations and waitlists, coordinating seating, and ensuring seamless guest flow across the restaurant, club spaces, and event function rooms.
- The Hostess plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by demonstrating outstanding communication skills, professionalism, and attention to detail from guests’ arrival to their departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome and engage guests as they arrive at the restaurant or events venue.
- Maintain accurate wait times and actively monitor the waiting list during peak periods.
- Manage reservations across all outlets using the designated reservation system.
- Escort guests to assigned dining, bar, lounge, or event areas, ensuring comfort and service readiness.
- Provide menus and introduce guests to their assigned Waiter/Waitress or service team.
- Greet and thank guests upon their departure, ensuring a memorable exit experience.
- Coordinate effectively with waitstaff and supervisors regarding seating options and guest flow.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and visually appealing reception/host stand area.
- Attend to guests requiring special attention (children, elderly guests, VIPs, members, corporate clients).
- Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, handling enquiries, bookings, and venue information.
- Support event room check-ins and guest directions for private functions and meetings.
- Assist waitstaff with service support when required.
- Adhere to restaurant, clubhouse, and event etiquette and uphold all health and safety standards.

- Guest Satisfaction: Positive guest feedback and minimal complaints regarding reception experience.
- Reservation Accuracy: Proper management of bookings, seating plans, and waitlists without errors.
- Service Efficiency: Timely and efficient seating of guests and effective coordination with the FOH team.
- Professionalism: Consistent adherence to etiquette, grooming, and communication standards.
- Cleanliness & Organisation: Reception/host stand area maintained at premium standards at all times.
- Call Handling Efficiency: Prompt response rate and accuracy in handling guest enquiries and bookings.
- Team Collaboration: Effective communication and cooperation with FOH, events, and restaurant teams.
- Event Support: Smooth guest flow and check-in experience during private functions and club events.
Educational Qualifications
- Minimum OND in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Communication, or related field.
- Additional certifications in hospitality, customer service or front-of-house operations are an advantage.
Experience:
- 4 – 6 years experience as a Hostess, Waitress/Waiter, Receptionist, or Guest Relations Officer in a premium restaurant, hotel, private club, or upscale event venue.
- Experience managing reservations and handling guest enquiries in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a high-end or luxury service establishment is strongly preferred.
Technical Competencies:
- Strong understanding of restaurant and clubhouse etiquette standards.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Proficiency in managing reservations and waitlists (manual or software-based).
- Strong customer service and guest engagement skills.
