About the Role




  • Our client is seeking a highly skilled Solar Engineer to lead the design, implementation, supervision, and maintenance of renewable Solar PV power systems and energy storage solutions.

  • This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong technical expertise, project management capability, and business development awareness to drive system performance, ensure operational excellence, and support the company’s strategic growth.



Key Responsibilities

Technical & Engineering:




  • Design, supervise, implement, operate, and maintain renewable Solar PV power systems.

  • Conduct site surveys and generate Bills of Materials, engineering concepts, and drawings for tender submissions.

  • Manage and maintain solar assets to minimize downtime and maximize energy generation.

  • Analyze and coordinate project design documents, ensuring accurate and effective engineering delivery.

  • Generate, analyze, and interpret system data to identify and resolve performance issues across Solar PV farms.

  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and project quality standards.

  • Lead and mentor Solar PV, Electrical, and Mechanical engineers on project sites.



Energy Storage & System Performance:




  • Work with Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), and grid-tied/off-grid solar solutions.

  • Conduct energy audits and optimize solar system performance for maximum efficiency.



Project Management:




  • Provide full project direction and oversee daily operations and maintenance activities.

  • Develop implementation plans, monitor progress, and take corrective action to meet deadlines.

  • Conduct milestone and deliverable reviews, ensuring projects follow defined processes and achieve objectives.

  • Oversee HSE compliance for all subcontractors on site.



Business Development & Operations:




  • Support business development through technical input, solution design, and client engagement.

  • Prepare and support tendering, bids, and proposals.

  • Implement company processes and contribute to the development and execution of the company’s business plan.

  • Ensure KPIs, operational targets, and efficiency goals are met.



Documentation & Reporting:




  • Prepare technical documentation, progress reports, QA/QC records, and vertical/horizontal communication logs.

  • Ensure documentation accuracy for all installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.



Requirements

Education & Professional Qualifications:




  • B.Sc. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.

  • MNSE – Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers.

  • COREN – Registered Engineer (required or in view).

  • Membership in additional relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.



Experience:




  • Minimum 5 years experience in Solar PV engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience in project management and solar system deployment.



Key Competencies:




  • Strong engineering design capability (robust, cost-effective, and implementable solutions).

  • Excellent project planning, scheduling, and implementation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.

  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.

  • Ability to manage teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.

  • High level of initiative and ownership.
