Job Summary
- The Production Manager will oversee all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production processes, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- The role requires a strong leader with hands-on experience in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution:
- Plan, organise, and manage daily production activities to meet output targets
- Develop and implement production schedules in line with demand forecasts
- Ensure optimal utilisation of manpower, machinery, and materials
- Monitor production performance and implement improvements
Quality & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards
- Work closely with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams
- Ensure all production processes meet required safety and quality standards
- Maintain proper documentation and batch records
Process Optimisation & Efficiency:
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Monitor production KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Optimise production costs while maintaining product quality
Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead, supervise, and develop production staff
- Ensure proper training and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance
Equipment & Maintenance:
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of production equipment
- Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance team to minimise downtime
- Plan preventive maintenance schedules
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce strict compliance with health and safety policies
- Ensure a safe working environment for all staff
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments
Inventory & Materials Management:
- Coordinate with the supply chain to ensure the availability of raw materials
- Monitor inventory levels and minimise production disruptions
- Reduce wastage and ensure proper material handling
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and present production reports daily, weekly, monthly
- Track production metrics and provide performance insights to management
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- A master’s degree is an added advantage
- 8 to 12 years’ experience in production or manufacturing
- At least 3 to 5 years in a managerial role
- Experience in pharmaceutical, animal health, or regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory standards
