Job Summary




  • The Porter is responsible for assisting guests with luggage, providing courteous guest services, and supporting the front office in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all guests.

  • The role plays a key part in creating a positive first and last impression of the hotel.



Key Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Assistance:




  • Welcome guests upon arrival with a friendly and professional attitude.

  • Assist guests with carrying luggage to and from rooms.

  • Escort guests to their rooms and explain room features and hotel facilities.

  • Provide directions and information about hotel services and local areas.



Front Entrance & Lobby Support:




  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance and lobby area.

  • Open doors for guests and assist with arrivals and departures.

  • Ensure trolleys and luggage carts are clean and available.



Luggage Handling:




  • Properly tag, handle, and store guest luggage when necessary.

  • Ensure safe and careful handling of guest belongings.

  • Deliver luggage promptly and efficiently.



Support to Front Office:




  • Assist the reception team during busy periods.

  • Run errands within the hotel (e.g., delivering messages, documents, or items to rooms).

  • Help in coordinating guest requests.



Safety & Security:




  • Monitor activities around the entrance and report suspicious behavior.

  • Ensure guest property is handled securely.

  • Follow hotel safety procedures at all times.



Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)




  • Guest satisfaction and feedback.

  • Timeliness in luggage handling and guest assistance.

  • Professional appearance and conduct.

  • Cleanliness of assigned areas.

  • Responsiveness to guest requests.



Requirements & Qualifications




  • Minimum of an SSCE or equivalent qualification.

  • Previous experience in a hotel or customer service role is an advantage.

  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy luggage.

  • Basic understanding of hotel operations.
