A forklift driver is responsible for safely operating forklifts to move, load, and unload materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety protocols.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Operating Forklift: Safely operate forklift to move materials to and from containers and other storage areas and loading docks/trucks.

  • Loading and Unloading: Accurately load and unload materials from vehicles and storage areas, ensuring that items are handled properly to prevent damage. 

  • Inventory Management: Track inventory, manage stock levels, and maintain accurate records of materials moved. 

  • Forklift Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect forklift and perform basic maintenance to ensure it is in safe working condition. Report any issues or required repairs to the Warehouse Manager. 

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies regarding health and safety standards. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe operating procedures. 

  • Communication: Effectively communicate with Team members and Manager/Supervisors to coordinate the movement of materials and ensure efficient operations. 

  • Hazard Identification: Identify and report any workplace safety hazards to maintain a safe working environment. 



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS




  • Training Certification: A valid forklift operator certification is typically required, along with School Certificates or equivalent qualifications.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is necessary to ensure accurate loading and inventory management. 

  • Physical Fitness: The role often requires physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items. 

  • Role Importance: Forklift drivers play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of logistics and generally supply, making their responsibilities vital to the overall success of the organization.
