Job Summary
- The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of a company's database systems.
- This critical role ensures the smooth operation of the IT infrastructure by managing database management software (DBMS), protecting sensitive information, and maintaining data integrity.
- The DBA’s primary objective is to keep the database operational around the clock, facilitating a seamless flow of information throughout the organization.
- This involves optimizing both backend data structures and frontend accessibility for end-users.
Job Function
- Administer and maintain database systems, including monitoring, tuning performance and troubleshooting issues.
- Installing and configuring applications, ensuring that data is synchronized correctly between databases, and troubleshooting application-related issues.
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required in view of optimizing database performance and efficiency.
- Ensure data security and integrity, including implementation of access controls,backups and recovery.
- Collaborate with third-party developers and other team members to design and implement new features as well as troubleshoot any data-related issues in the Organization.
- Support users and developers by resolving data-related technical issues and troubleshooting queries by guiding them with best practices.
- Work with other team members to execute disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure database availability during system outages or dysfunction.
- Execute regular database maintenance tasks, including database defragmentation, backups, and database replication.
- Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
- Write queries for report generation from database where applicable when such reports are not available from the front end-applications.
- Provide proactive and reactive data management support.
Job Specifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/ HNDin Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in database administration or in a similar role.
Training:
- My SQL Database Administration
- Microsoft NAV Development
- Database Management(RDBM)
- SQL Server Administration
- SQL
Knowledge requirements:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft NAV / Dynamics 365 BC Development Environment.
- Knowledge of database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server,MySQL and ability to write SQL queries.
- Experience in database backup, disaster recovery plan execution,database performance optimization and data security.
Skills Required:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide quick solutions to issues.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to work in a team environment.
