A leading maritime logistics and supply chain firm specializing in international marine equipment procurement and vessel operations is seeking a high-caliber Chief Accountant.
This role is critical for managing complex financial workflows between Nigeria and international partners in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Controllership: Manage full-cycle accounting, including petty cash, intercompany account reconciliations, and budgeting.
Maritime Financial Operations: Oversee vessel-related back-charging, monitor shipowner DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and manage the PO structure for marine parts and machinery.
Tax & Compliance: Act as the primary lead for ICAN/ACCA standards, managing VAT, WHT (deductions and certificates), CIT, and sector-specific levies (NCD, Cabotage, Training Funds).
Treasury & Forex: Coordinate Foreign Exchange sourcing at competitive rates and manage local banking relationships to support the international treasury team.
Strategic Reporting: Prepare annual closures and statutory financial statements; develop matrices to monitor Profit and Cost Units.
Candidate Profile
Education: Degree in Finance or Accounting.
Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN or ACCA). Professional certification in Taxation is highly preferred.
Experience: 7–10 years of experience, with a significant background in the Shipping, Maritime, or Oil & Gas sectors.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAGE Accounting Software and advanced Excel.
Soft Skills: Strong negotiation skills for credit terms with suppliers and "boots on the ground" capability for customer visits to improve cash recovery.
