Job Description

• A Generator Mechanic specialises in the installation, inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of diesel, gas, or propane-powered generators (standby, portable, and prime power units).

Main Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, and control system issues using diagnostic tools and manuals.


• Perform preventive maintenance (oil/filter changes, lubrication, coolant checks, battery service) and emergency repairs.


• Repair or replace engines, alternators, fuel systems, voltage regulators, transfer switches, and control panels.


• Conduct load bank testing, functional testing, and commissioning of new or repaired generators.


• Handle field service calls, installations, and on-site repairs while maintaining accurate service records.

Key Requirements

• Strong knowledge of diesel/gas engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and generator controls.


• Proficiency with hand/power tools, diagnostic equipment, schematics, and multimeters.


• 5+ years of experience in generator or heavy equipment repair


• Minimum of a high school diploma + technical/vocational training in diesel mechanics, electrical technology, or related field.


• Physical fitness and problem-solving skills
