Job Description
General Overview
- Ensure protection data is systematically collected, stored, analyzed, and disseminated to support high-quality programming, reporting, and decision-making.
- Contribute to improving evidence-based programming by enhancing data quality, analysis, and visualization of protection information products.
- Ensure compliance with PUI data protection policies and global Protection Information Management (PIM) principles.
- Work closely with Protection and MEAL teams to support coordinated, consistent, and ethical data management practices.
Responsibilities & Tasks
Information Management Systems:
- Support the design, revision, and implementation of information management systems and tools for Protection Monitoring and related activities.
- Assess information needs with protection teams and contribute to defining data collection frameworks, indicators, and reporting requirements.
- Develop, update, and maintain digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, CommCare), ensuring logical structure and contextual relevance.
- Support the maintenance and organization of protection databases for structured, accessible, and reliable data storage.
- Ensure datasets are systematically structured and disaggregated (e.g., by age, gender, and vulnerability).
- Identify gaps in data collection, storage, and analysis processes and support system improvements.
- Contribute to the development and updating of SOPs, data management processes, and archiving systems in line with PUI standards.
Data Management & Quality Control:
- Ensure all protection data is safely, accurately, and confidentially collected, recorded, and stored.
- Review and validate data submitted by field teams for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
- Conduct routine data cleaning, verification, and quality control checks.
- Monitor data entry processes and database updates to ensure timeliness and integrity.
- Ensure proper filing, organization, and secure storage of digital and hard copy records.
Data Analysis, Reporting & Visualization:
- Lead analysis of quantitative and qualitative protection data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and gaps.
- Contribute to standardized analytical frameworks for consistency in outputs.
- Support development of data collection methodologies, indicators, and sampling approaches.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc protection reports.
- Generate dashboards, infographics, and data visualizations.
- Contribute to reports, briefing notes, snapshots, and thematic analyses for stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit sector reporting (e.g., 5W), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Compile and analyze secondary data to complement primary data.
- Contribute to weekly updates, situation reports, and program reporting.
- Support teams in interpreting and using data for planning and decision-making.
Support to Protection Strategy:
- Provide data-driven insights for program design, strategic planning, and prioritization.
- Support design and analysis of assessments (e.g., protection monitoring, rapid needs assessments).
- Identify protection trends to support advocacy and program improvement.
- Ensure analysis integrates age, gender, and diversity considerations.
Data Protection & Compliance:
- Ensure IM systems comply with PUI data protection policies and global PIM standards.
- Identify risks related to data collection, storage, and sharing, and support mitigation measures.
- Promote confidentiality and ethical data management practices.
- Support development and implementation of data sharing protocols and procedures.
Monitoring, Accountability & Learning:
- Monitor data quality trends and completeness across protection activities.
- Maintain updated datasets and produce summaries for decision-making.
- Support collection and analysis of beneficiary feedback and accountability data.
- Coordinate with MEAL teams for alignment with monitoring and learning frameworks.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement.
Coordination & Representation:
- Work closely with Protection and MEAL teams for harmonized data practices.
- Support timely information sharing on protection risks and needs.
- Participate in coordination meetings and IM-related platforms.
- Ensure consistency of tools, indicators, and reporting formats across projects and partners.
Capacity Building:
- Support onboarding and training on data tools, entry processes, and quality standards.
- Provide technical support to field teams on IM systems and protection monitoring.
- Promote best practices in data management, analysis, and protection.
- Develop guidance materials and user support tools.

Mandatory Requirements
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Hausa is an asset.
- Degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Information Management, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in information/data management or analysis, preferably in NGO/INGO or humanitarian settings.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, and analysis.
- Understanding of PIM principles and data protection standards.
- Familiarity with Protection Monitoring systems and methodologies.
- Experience with data collection tools and database management.
- Ability to clean, structure, and analyze datasets.
- Strong reporting and analytical writing skills.
Computer Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Experience with data collection platforms (e.g., Kobo, CommCare).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel dashboards).
Assets:
- Knowledge of Hausa and/or Kanuri.
- Understanding of humanitarian and protection context.
- Experience with protection assessments and analytical frameworks.
- Experience producing research or analytical reports.
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI.
- Experience working with international NGOs.
- Familiarity with qualitative analysis tools.
