Description

Our client business model is driven by three integrated revenue streams:




  • High-margin C&I solar EPC and service contracts

  • Government PPP solar projects under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

  • Developer fees at Financial Close on DFI-financed anchor projects.



Year 1 targets include:




  • 20MW contracted capacity

  • Anchor PPA secured

  • $10–15M DFI project financing

  • ₦1.2–2 billion in revenue

  • The long-term vision is to build a continental infrastructure platform across 17+ African markets.



The Role




  • This is a foundational leadership role. The CEO will build the company from the ground up—there is no existing structure or client base.



You will:




  • Define and execute the commercial strategy

  • Lead all major deals and negotiations

  • Manage investor and DFI relationships

  • Build and lead the executive team

  • Deliver a 12-month performance mandate

  • This is a high-accountability, high-reward rolewith clear quarterly milestones and direct Board oversight.



Performance Expectations

Q1 (April – June 2026):




  • Operational Board established

  • 3 signed commercial deals; 15MW+ pipeline validated

  • CFO hired within 60 days

  • NERC captive generation license application submitted

  • ₦250M revenue delivered.



Q2 (July – September 2026):




  • Series A funding ($1–2M) closed

  • Anchor PPA (10–20MW) signed

  • Land secured; feasibility study completed

  • ₦450M cumulative revenue

  • At least 3 DFI engagements initiated.



Q3 (October – December 2026):




  • SPV incorporated; project structured for DFI bankability

  • DFI term sheet secured ($5–10M)

  • EPC contract signed

  • 12MW contracted capacity

  • ₦600M cumulative revenue.



Q4 (January – March 2027):




  • Financial Close achieved ($10–15M disbursed)

  • Construction commenced

  • 20MW+ contracted

  • ₦2 billion Year 1 revenue

  • Positive Board Year 1 verdict.



Core Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership:




  • Build and close a ≥40MW pipeline within Year 1

  • Lead all major negotiations (C&I, DISCOs, government)

  • Secure and execute anchor PPA

  • Maintain minimum 25% gross margin.



Investor & DFI Engagement:




  • Develop relationships with DFIs (IFC, AfDB, FMO, Proparco)

  • Lead Series A fundraising ($1–2M)

  • Execute project finance strategy for anchor project

  • Submit at least 2 international grant applications.



Team Building & Governance:




  • Recruit key leadership roles within 60 days (CFO, CCO, Technical Lead)

  • Set KPIs and manage performance

  • Drive ≥80% team retention

  • Ensure governance, reporting, and compliance.



Project Development:




  • Oversee NERC licensing process

  • Secure land and complete feasibility studies

  • Structure SPVs and manage project execution

  • Ensure project construction begins within Year 1.



Financial Management:




  • Maintain budget discipline and financial reporting

  • Ensure minimum 25% margin across projects

  • Oversee financial controls (including interim CFO duties if needed).



Requirements




  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience, with at least 5 years at Director/CEO/MD level.

  • Proven track record of closing commercial deals in energy/infrastructure

  • Direct experience working with or securing funding fromDevelopment Finance Institutions (DFIs)

  • Strong knowledge of the Nigerian power sector(NERC, C&I solar, DISCOs)

  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams

  • Prior experience in aninvestor-backed company (₦500M+ revenue) preferred

  • Exposure to PPAs, SPVs, and project finance structures.



Non-Negotiables:




  • Demonstrated deal-closing experience (with verifiable references)

  • Direct DFI transaction experience

  • Strong understanding of NERC licensing and the C&I solar market

  • Proven leadership in fast-paced, high-growth environments

  • Comfortable operating under structured governance and Board oversight.
