Job Description
What’s The Role
- As a Production Chemist, you will be responsible for providing expert production chemistry support to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective hydrocarbon production. You will focus on flow assurance, chemical management, water quality control, corrosion and scale mitigation, and continuous optimization of production systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will provide Production Chemistry (PChem) support for new projects (BN/HI/ND) and Well Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM) production optimization and restoration activities. You will manage Production Chemistry laboratories to deliver high-quality analytical data within agreed turnaround times, maintain applicable laboratory certifications, and provide technical assurance for third-party laboratory service providers. Review and approve technical interpretations, recommendations, and reports, while overseeing chemical and laboratory service contracts, supporting compliance with statutory regulations, delivering field chemistry services, and acting as the Asset Chemical Management System custodian.
- Provide Production Chemistry (PChem) discipline expertise across the E&P lifecycle, from drilling to abandonment/projects, including technical input to new projects, MOCs, and technical studies.
- Support production optimization and restoration activities as part of the integrated Well Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM) Team by interpreting production chemistry data and trends, identifying risks, and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitor and control flow assurance risks, including corrosion, scale, hydrates, emulsions, and fouling, while providing technical input to Asset Integrity, Flow Assurance, and Reliability teams.
- Support start-ups, shutdowns, well interventions, and production upsets from a chemistry perspective, while facilitating the acquisition of quality analytical data to support production and field development.
- Lead or support Production Chemistry Improvement Plans (PCIP), continuous improvement initiatives, and at least one discipline specialist area (Process or Well Fluids), including the implementation of innovative solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Manage chemical selection, qualification, performance evaluation, consumption optimization, and cost control to meet OPEX targets, while interfacing with chemical vendors and implementing the Chemical Management System (CMS) in SNEPCO.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures by promoting the safe handling, storage, and application of production chemicals, while supporting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) monitoring and reasonable assurance compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with production, operations, subsurface, facilities, and procurement teams, while embedding the Ensure Quality Product (EQP) process as part of SNEPCO SEAM implementation.
What You Bring
- University graduate, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of cognate E&P experience, including at least 5 years within an oilfield production chemistry team
- Must demonstrate a minimum skill level in at least three Production Chemistry (PChem) discipline competency areas i.e. Drilling fluids chemistry, Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, hydrocarbon/water separation, Internal Corrosion and Production Systems Optimization
- Possesses strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrates competency in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Quality Management Systems
- Has knowledge of Contracting principles and processes
- Has knowledge of Project Management and Laboratory Information Management Systems (SampleManager LIMS)
- Has knowledge of Chemical Management Systems (ProSteward)
