- Vennote Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator to join our infrastructure team.
- You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our Unix and Linux environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- This role requires a technical expert who can handle everything from routine user management to complex cluster troubleshooting and hardware refreshes.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Configuration:
- Multi-Platform Support: Administer, install, and configure Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Oracle Linux environments.
- Virtualization: Manage and optimize server performance using modern virtualization technologies.
- Lifecycle Management: Lead Technology Refresh projects within the Unix/Linux domain to ensure infrastructure remains modern and supported.
- Maintenance: Perform OS management, including patch updates, kernel fine-tuning, and access control.
Operations & Monitoring:
- Account Management: Handle the full lifecycle of user accounts (creation, deletion, and modification) and manage group policies.
- Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor server concurrent logins, processor utilization, network traffic, and disk space for the Portal environment.
- Data Protection: Execute regular backups in strict accordance with company policies and disaster recovery procedures.
Troubleshooting & Support:
- Clustering: Apply strong knowledge of clustering technologies to maintain high availability and resolve complex failover issues.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with principal vendors to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes for critical issues.
- Remote Assistance: Provide expert remote support for OS installation and configuration as needed.
Security & Compliance:
- Hardening: Partner with the security team to apply patches, implement security policies, and perform system hardening.
- Investigations: Assist in security investigations and audit compliance activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 4–6 years of hands-on experience in a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator role.
- Certification in Red Hat: RHCSA or RHCE is essential for the RHEL component.
- Oracle/Solaris and VMware certifications is a plus
- Governance: ITIL v4 Foundation certification (highly valued for alignment with Vennote’s service delivery frameworks).
Technical Requirements:
- Scripting: Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Perl for task automation and system monitoring.
- Security & Hardening: Knowledge of SELinux, IPTables/Firewalld, and implementing CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks for OS hardening.
- Patch Management: Experience using tools like Red Hat Satellite or Oracle Enterprise Manager for automated patching.
- Operating Systems: Expert-level knowledge of RHEL, Solaris, and Oracle Linux.
- Clustering: Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting clustered environments.
- Virtualization: Hands-on experience with enterprise virtualization platforms.
- Security: Solid understanding of OS-level security best practices and hardening techniques.
