Our client, a top-tier co-educational secondary school in Nigeria, is seeking a Human Resource Manager who is responsible to the CEO and Executive Directors to manage issues relating to employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other areas of HR.
Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Put in place a proper process to ensure that all HR activities are standardised.
- Ensure that the appropriate testing process is in place for recruitment across the organization for transparency
- Ensure recruitment targets are met, and that Recruitment administration and processes fully live up to Corporate HR standards.
- Communicates performance management system & process
- Conducts needs analysis studies and confers with managers and supervisors to determine training needs.
- Work with the top management of the organization to identify & plan the development of staff with high potential to ensure fast track growth for such staff to facilitate retention.
- Is responsible for working with line managers & senior management on annual compensation actions & in developing a proper policy & approach to guide these actions
- Conducts moderate to complex job pricing and market analyses. This involves participating in industry or regional surveys or conducting customized surveys.
- Based on market conditions, makes recommendations for adjustments to the Salary scales at least annually if applicable.
- Oversees the preparation of job descriptions, both newly created and those that require updating and revisions.
- Provides leadership and direction with respect to the company’s performance management system. Ensures performance appraisals are completed as required, in accordance with policy, and assists managers and supervisors in their preparation whenever required.
- Direct & control the Operations aspect of the HR function to ensure that it provides cost effective & timely services across the organization
- Ensure through advice & monitoring that HR policies are implemented consistently, & that the core values of the company with regard to people are upheld
- Advise all employees on the HR & employee relations policies.

- Handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion.
- Advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills. Knowledge of a local language will be a definite advantage.
- Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company
Qualifications
- Requires university degree in human resources, business administration, behavioural science, or social science. A postgraduate qualification in HR is preferable
- Requires 10 - 15 years’ experience in general human resources or related work in the Educational or hospitality industry.
- Must be familiar with labour and employment law and practices.
- Must have sound knowledge in various local and international human resources standards in the areas of compensation, employee relations, general benefits, employment and staffing practices, and organizational development.
- Requires knowledge to review and interpret survey and other data.
- Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills in recruitment, plugging HR gaps, setting and effective tracking of KPIs.
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management.
