Job Description

  • A senior delivery role at the heart of Ubulu Africa's programme function.

  • You will plan, manage, and deliver innovation programmes from inception to close - owning scope, schedule, budget, stakeholders, and risk across government, development agency, corporate, and startup ecosystem engagements.

  • You report to the Programme Director.

What you will do

  • Lead the full programme management lifecycle across all active Ubulu Africa programmes: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and close

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive programme plans, schedules, resource allocations, and budgets that reflect the full complexity of each engagement

  • Manage relationships with senior stakeholders across government, development agencies, corporate partners, and startup communities, communicating with clarity and confidence at every level

  • Produce high-quality programme documentation, including plans, progress reports, risk registers, stakeholder briefs, and close-out reports, to the standards that institutional engagements require

  • Lead the development of programme proposals and bids, bringing rigour to scoping, costing, methodology, and delivery planning

  • Coordinate internal teams and external partners to ensure delivery milestones are met, risks are managed, and accountability is clear throughout

  • Apply structured programme management methodologies and contribute to building the delivery standards and practices that allow Ubulu Africa to scale.

What you bring

  • 7 or more years of programme management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programmes across innovation ecosystem, development sector, government, or corporate environments

  • Familiarity with programme management frameworks and methodologies such as PMBOK or PRINCE2, applied with rigour in practice - formal certification is an advantage but demonstrated competence and experience carry equal weight

  • The ability to operate at both the strategic and executional level: you can architect a programme and you can chase down a deliverable

  • Excellent written communication: your programme plans, reports, proposals, and stakeholder updates are structured, precise, and professionally produced

  • Strong verbal and stakeholder management skills - equally comfortable presenting to a government director and running an internal team debrief

  • Demonstrated experience developing proposals and bids for institutional clients, with proven competence in planning, scheduling, resourcing, and budget management across concurrent programmes

  • A track record of adapting delivery approaches across diverse programme contexts without losing discipline, with experience in or with the African innovation ecosystem as a strong advantage.
