Job Summary:
We are seeking to hire a Fire Safety Technician who will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, servicing, and repair of fire protection and life safety systems to ensure they remain fully operational and compliant with applicable fire safety regulations and standards for the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, fire hose reels, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, hydrants, emergency lighting, and fire suppression systems
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of all fire protection equipment and systems.
- Perform functional tests on fire alarms, smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, sprinkler systems, hydrants, fire pumps, hose reels, and extinguishers.
- Identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Diagnose and repair faults in fire protection systems and equipment.
- Replace defective components and restore systems to full functionality.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency service calls.
- Escalate complex issues requiring specialist intervention.
- Ensure compliance with national fire safety regulations, building codes, and company policies
- Prepare inspection reports, maintenance records, service certificates, and equipment registers.
- Report safety hazards and equipment deficiencies to management.
- Support fire drills and emergency response exercises.
Key Requirements:
- OND, HND, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Technology, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant fire safety certifications are an added advantage.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Experience in commercial buildings, hospitality, industrial facilities, healthcare, oil and gas, or facility management is preferred.
- Ability to install, inspect, and maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, hydrants, and hose reels.
- Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics, and piping layouts.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
