Job Summary




  • The HSE Officer is responsible for promoting and sustaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment across all ipNX offices and other operational sites.

  • The role ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, minimizes workplace risks, and supports safe working practices for employees, contractors, and field teams.

  • The role is critical in embedding a proactive safety culture, preventing incidents, and ensuring operational continuity through effective HSE governance and risk management.



Key Responsibilities




  • Implement and monitor the organization's Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian HSE regulations and international best practices.

  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and recommend corrective actions.

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and support compliance audits and inspections.

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.

  • Identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.

  • Develop and monitor risk registers and corrective action plans.

  • Ensure safe work practices in offices, technical facilities, and field operations.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.

  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop and maintain emergency response and evacuation procedures.

  • Coordinate emergency drills and business continuity exercises.

  • Develop and facilitate HSE induction and awareness programs.

  • Conduct periodic toolbox talks and safety campaigns.

  • Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and reporting of unsafe conditions.

  • Conduct HSE onboarding for contractors and vendors.

  • Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance.

  • Ensure contractors possess the required safety certifications and PPE.

  • Monitor environmental compliance and waste management practices.

  • Support energy conservation and environmental sustainability initiatives.

  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and e-waste.

  • Maintain HSE records, reports, and incident logs.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports and dashboards.

  • Monitor HSE KPIs and provide insights to management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites and regional offices.

  • Ability to work outside normal hours during emergencies and critical incidents.

  • Physically fit to conduct field inspections and site visits.



Requirement / Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND (Second Class Upper Division or Distinction) in: Environmental Management / Engineering / Occupational Health & Safety / Industrial Safety / Sciences or related discipline.

  • 3–5 years experience in Health, Safety & Environment roles within Telecommunications / ICT / Infrastructure / Construction.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting: Infrastructure deployment projects / FTTH operations / Contractor safety management / Office and field-based HSE operations.
