Role Overview
Our client, a rapidly expanding agribusiness with operations across Anambra State, is seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly disciplined Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead the organization's security function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading the enterprise security strategy to protect its people, livestock and poultry assets, farms, feed mill, cold-chain and storage facilities, executives, and operations across its Igbariam, Anambra State site and any other company locations. The role safeguards all operations at the respective facilities from theft, diversion, and disruption; ensures effective risk management, security governance, crisis response, intelligence gathering, and investigations; upholds regulatory compliance; and secures business continuity across the farm-to-market value chain, while maintaining strong, cooperative relationships with host communities and local security agencies in the South-East region.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide security policies and strategies covering all farm, feed mill and administrative locations.
- Lead physical security, investigations, intelligence, and crisis management operations across the poultry production value chain for the company with the aid of a CCTV surveillance system
- Conduct security risk assessments and implement mitigation measures, including controls specific to all production and sales activities on the farm
- Ensure protection of company personnel, assets, facilities, produce (eggs, day-old chicks, live birds), and business operations.
- Safeguard feed, vaccines, equipment, and other high-value inputs against pilferage, diversion, and vendor/staff collusion.
- Secure the movement of feed, birds, eggs, and finished products along haulage routes between the farm, feed mill, and markets/distributors.
- Integrate security controls with biosecurity protocols to prevent both disease incursion and unauthorised access to production zones.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with host communities, traditional institutions, and local/state security agencies in Anambra State.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, Political Science, Law, Public Administration, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Security Studies, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is an advantage.
- Recognized professional certifications are an added advantage.
- Membership of a recognised security or risk management professional body is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10–12 years of progressive security experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience within agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, or similar operational environments; direct experience in poultry, livestock, or large-scale farm operations is a strong advantage.
- Proven expertise in corporate security, investigations, intelligence, crisis management, and enterprise risk management.
- Demonstrated experience securing rural, remote, or estate-based assets, including produce, livestock, and logistics/haulage operations.
- Familiarity with the security dynamics of South-East Nigeria, including farmer-herder tensions, kidnapping-prone corridors, and community-based security structures.
- Experience managing outsourced guard forces and coordinating with community and state-backed security outfits.
