Job Context
- An exciting leadership opportunity exists for a strategic and commercially driven Country Manager to lead and grow the ICS Market Access Healthcare business within the assigned territory. The successful incumbent will be responsible for delivering sustainable business growth, driving market expansion, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across multiple countries within their region.
- This role will provide overall leadership for the country cluster, ensuring alignment with regional and global business objectives while overseeing commercial performance, regulatory compliance, financial management, supply chain effectiveness, and talent development. The Country Manager will also play a critical role in establishing and leading a high-performing in-country team capable of delivering principal companies' strategic aspirations and improving patient access to healthcare solutions across the region.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute country and cluster strategies aligned to regional and global business goals.
- Identify emerging market opportunities, competitive trends, and growth drivers.
- Provide market intelligence and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Drive market penetration and expansion initiatives for existing and new healthcare products.
Commercial Management
- Deliver revenue, profitability, market share, and growth objectives.
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to drive commercial excellence.
- Monitor and optimize product portfolio performance.
- Implement effective pricing, promotional, and customer engagement strategies.
- Drive business development initiatives that enhance patient access and commercial success.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
- Ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities and key healthcare institutions.
- Support product registrations, renewals, pharmacovigilance, and quality assurance activities.
- Promote ethical marketing practices and responsible business conduct.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, healthcare professionals, hospitals, pharmacies, distributors, and industry associations.
- Represent the company at external engagements, industry forums, and strategic meetings.
- Develop partnerships that support business growth and healthcare access initiatives.
Financial Management
- Assume accountability for country and cluster P&L performance.
- Develop and manage budgets, operating expenses, and resource allocation.
- Drive profitability through effective financial planning and execution.
- Ensure robust strategic, operational, financial, and reputational risk management.
Supply Chain & Operations Oversight
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
- Monitor inventory management and distribution efficiency.
- Minimize stock-outs and excess inventory risks.
- Drive operational excellence across business functions.
People Leadership
- Build, lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive employee engagement, talent retention, and succession planning initiatives.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and development reviews.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Additional leadership, commercial, or healthcare management certifications will be advantageous.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum 15 years' experience in Sales and Marketing within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, market access, or related healthcare sectors, with a consistent record of high performance.
- At least 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of healthcare market access dynamics, pharmaceutical industry operations, and regulatory environments within the assigned region.
- Demonstrated success in sales leadership, business development, and commercial execution.
- Proven experience managing and delivering against P&L responsibilities.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
