Job Summary

• We are seeking a diligent, organised, and detail oriented Account Officer to join its finance team.


• The successful candidate will support the school’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, monitoring payments, and providing timely financial information to the School Bursar and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and process daily financial transactions accurately.


• Prepare receipts, payment vouchers, invoices, and other relevant financial documents.


• Assist with monitoring school fee payments and outstanding balances.


• Perform regular bank, cashbook, and ledger reconciliations.


• Maintain accurate and up to date financial records and filing systems.


• Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and financial summaries.


• Support the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets.


• Verify financial documents and ensure transactions are properly authorised and supported.


• Assist with payroll preparation and other routine accounting activities as required.


• Monitor petty cash and maintain proper documentation for all petty cash transactions.


• Assist with audit preparation and provide relevant financial records when required.


• Liaise with parents, vendors, staff, and other stakeholders regarding routine financial enquiries.


• Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive financial information.


• Perform other accounting duties assigned by the School Bursar or management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.


• 5 to 8 years’ relevant accounting experience.


• Previous experience in a school or educational environment will be an advantage.


• Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial procedures.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.


• Experience using accounting software is an advantage.


• Strong numerical and analytical skills.


• Good attention to detail and accuracy.


• Excellent organisational and communication skills.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
