About the Role
The Finance Graduate Officer (Accountant) is responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements and annual report, maintaining cash controls, supervising and managing payroll with close liaison with the HR function, approving and settling expenses, processing invoices, managing the Group of Companies income and expenditure, asset register, producing and tracking the organization’s budget, file P.A.Y.E taxes, remit VAT, manage investment accounts, file returns with the Corporate Affairs Commission amongst others. The function will support fundraising, financial modeling, planning & forecasting.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage, process, record and report invoicing and expenditure of all transactions in a timely and cost-efficient manner
- Manage financial forecasting, planning, budgeting and reporting
- Implement and update financial policies and procedures; and ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
- Process, track, report and file all tax returns to the relevant authorities
- Manage organizations asset register
- Update and manage company’s finance system
- Reconcile the general ledger, maintain the cash book, petty cash and other key record keeping tools
- Manage investment accounts and liquidity
- Maintain and update corporate financial model
- Support fundraising activities and management of key investments of the company
- Prepare and reconcile financial statements, and support the audit process
- Establish and maintain vendor accounts and relationships
- Stay abreast of banking regulation, products and services and policies and practices, and ensure Tongston is compliant and can benefit from same, as applicable
- Manage maintenance of transaction records and documents; create an archival system for easy retrieval of company accounts and income, liabilities, assets and expenditure information, files and records of the Group of Companies
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline preferably in the management sciences and quantitative degrees (e.g. statistics, accounting, finance, mathematics)
- Additional qualification such as ACCA or ICAN is a requirement where the bachelor’s degree is not in the preferred courses above is required
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience
- A Chartered Financial Analyst qualification or equivalent even if in progress will be a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Excel (Advanced), Powerpoint and Word is required
