Job Description
Job Objective/Purpose of Job:
- Responsible for the financial health of Cainergy. He/she produces financial reports and develops strategies for the short and medium-term plans for the company's financial goals.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
- Provides financial direction, planning and accounting to the business, covering short term financial goals. Liquidity & Treasury Management:
- Using appropriate forecasting tools, ensures that adequate measures are factored to achieve business objectives.
- Ensures that optimal liquidity is available to deliver business/project plan.
- Negotiates/arranges external finance, when necessary, viz Loans and Overdraft.
- Reviews working capital/cash flow requirement on a regular basis.
- Monitors banking activities for the Company for proper running and ensure regular reconciliations of all banking transactions with the cash books. Budgeting and Financial Forecast.
- Develops plans, budgets, forecasts and financial results to guide management decisions by forecasting requirements; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Presents operating and capital expenditure budgets for review and approval. Financial Analysis & Interpretation.
- Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Responsible for presenting and reporting accurate and timely historical financial information of the Company and its other business concerns (Company and project sites).
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors (Internal and External Auditors).
- Manages relationships with regulatory and statutory bodies, i.e. NAICOM, FIRS, Abuja/ Lagos & Benin Internal Revenue Service, etc. Internal Control & Monitoring.
- Ensures adequate controls are installed and maintained to cover all financial transactions, including safeguarding financial assets.
- Possesses versatile ability to handle various business applications within the Company
- Control and monitor activities and personnel to achieve required performance.
- Oversees activities of the finance team (i.e. hires, coaches, appraises rewards, motivates, discipline, etc).
Requirements
- First degree in Accounting, Finance Administration, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Professional accounting/finance e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, ICAN
- An MBA or business-related postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.
Experience Required
- 10+ years of experience in finance, product control, and investment role with a major company or division of a large corporation. With at least 5 years in a management-level role.
Skills Required
- Experience managing finance in companies in the oil and gas or construction or asset management experience would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of audit and tax will be an added advantage.
- Experience managing a group of companies, with consolidation accounting experience.
- Experience in managing profitability and cost management, macroeconomic issues, and tax and regulatory policy.
- Experience using office computer programs like spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
- Knowledge of account and finance framework and principles • Knowledge of expected priority areas of focus for the government to improve the business environment.
