Job Summary:


The Finance Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role plays a crucial part in supporting Trade Depot’s financial health and decision-making processes.


Responsibilities:


Financial Reporting:



  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and external stakeholders.


General Ledger Management:



  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.

  • Record and classify financial transactions accurately.


Budgeting and Forecasting:



  • Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts.

  • Monitor budget variances and provide analysis.


Account Reconciliation:



  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.


Compliance:



  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.

  • Assist in the preparation for audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.


Financial Analysis:


Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.


Provide insights into financial performance and trends.


Taxation:



  • Prepare and file various tax returns.

  • Stay current with changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance.


Internal Controls:



  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

  • Identify and address control weaknesses.


Software and Systems:



  • Utilize financial software and systems to manage and analyze financial data.

  • Make recommendations for system improvements.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional certification is often preferred.

  • Previous experience in accounting or finance roles and preparing financial statements.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in regulations, processes, and technologies.
