Job Objectives



  • To provide effective support for the Managing Director (MD)/CEO by overseeing the core sales/business aspects of the Bank and ensure support for the corporate strategy and the attainment of operational goals.

  • The idea candidate should be on AGM Role currently.


Accountabilities / Responsibilities



  • Relieve the MD/CEO of significant sales responsibilities and allow the MD/CEO to focus on strategic initiatives and policy setting. Also reduces the CEO's span of control

  • Support the MD/CEO in business development, strategy and policy formulation and ensuring that performance objectives and statutory/regulatory requirements are achieved

  • Assume direct responsibility for assigned sales divisions (combination of profit centre and sales support divisions)

  • Provide necessary support in effectively implementing board issued sales directives

  • Maintain Business Relationships– the National Sales Manager has an absolute necessity to maintain and develop long-lasting client relationships

  • Research- A significant portion of the National Sales Manager’s time will be spent on conducting research on market insights, business opportunities, industry trends, competing organizations, customer demographics, new technologies and more to stay caught up on recent information.

  • The National Sales Manager must track and record metrics, data and statistics on the organisation’s sales performance, connections, client/customer retention and finances on a regular basis. In addition to providing detailed records for the company’s long-term use, as well as recommending ways to improve existing procedures.


Competencies / Qualifications / Experience



  • Strong academic record (A First Degree from a reputable university, relevant post-graduate qualifications (M.Sc or MBA) or an acceptable professional qualification in Accountancy or Finance (e.g., CFA))

  • Years of professional experience should not be less than 18 years at least 13 years of which must have been done within banking and at least 7 years at top/senior management level.

  • The candidate should have significant experience in banking in a line area and/or core operational area (Finance, Operations and/or Treasury).

  • The candidate should be on AGM position currently.
