  • As a Risk and Collection Analyst at Fintech, you will play a pivotal role in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by assessing and managing credit risk while ensuring efficient debt collection processes.

  • Your responsibilities will focus on safeguarding the financial health of the company's lending portfolio.


Key Responsibilities



  • Credit Risk Assessment: Evaluate the creditworthiness of SME clients applying for financing by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data. Assess factors such as cash flow, profitability, and industry trends to determine risk levels and loan eligibility.

  • Underwriting Support: Collaborate with the underwriting team to provide insights and recommendations on credit risk assessment. Ensure that loan decisions align with Company’s risk appetite and credit policies.

  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the SME lending portfolio and identify potential credit risks in a timely manner. Conduct regular reviews of loan accounts to assess payment behavior and detect early warning signs of delinquency or default.

  • Delinquency Management: Develop and implement effective collection strategies to mitigate delinquency and minimize losses. Communicate with SME clients to negotiate repayment plans, resolve payment issues, and prevent accounts from becoming severely delinquent.

  • Loss Mitigation: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to explore options for loss mitigation and recovery. Coordinate efforts to recover outstanding debts through settlement negotiations, asset liquidation, or legal actions when necessary.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare comprehensive reports and analysis on credit risk metrics, delinquency trends, and collection performance. Present findings to management and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and risk management initiatives.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to credit risk management and debt collection practices. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Skills



  • OND or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced qualifications or certifications in risk management or credit analysis are advantageous.

  • 2+ years relevant work experience.

  • Proven experience in risk management, credit analysis, or debt collection within the financial services sector, preferably with a focus on SME lending on Lagos Island.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and assess creditworthiness accurately.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with SME clients and effectively manage difficult conversations.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, or business intelligence platforms.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in credit risk management and debt collection.

  • Results-driven mindset, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
