Job Description



  • Responsible for managing the finance and accounting function of the business, ensuring the integrity of financial reports and providing strategic leadership to the financial performance of the Company.


Primary Responsibilities



  • Maintain the books of accounts of the company, ensuring proper accounting treatment of all transactions.

  • Finalize and issue the monthly management accounts and relevant performance reports for review by executive management.

  • Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection from customers.

  • Ensure timely remittance of all statutory deductions to the relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Monitor the preparation of CBN returns and all necessary regulatory returns and ensure accuracy of the returns.

  • Manage all audits from CBN and other regulatory bodies and ensure all queries are addressed satisfactorily.

  • Provide strategic guidance to the executive team, by providing all necessary financial information and analyses, to aid critical business decision making.

  • Ensure timely payment to suppliers according to the company’s payment policy.

  • Manage the yearly financial close and issue the financial statements of the company.

  • Coordinate external audits of the company.

  • Foster and manage relationships with banks and other relevant financial institutions.

  • Manage liquidity and highlight liquidity risks and opportunities to the executive management in a timely manner.

  • Conduct financial planning for the company and recommend initiatives for meeting the liquidity requirements of the business.

  • Prepare and issue the monthly and annual company-wide budgets for the company.

  • Keep abreast of industry developments and developments in the finance and accounting practice that may be of interest to the company.

  • Attend weekly management meetings and contribute insight and information relating to the Company’s financial management.

  • Make recommendations for the training and development needs of the Finance Department.

  • Initiate and finalize performance appraisals for all members of the Finance Department.

  • Any other duties as may be required by the company’s management.


Personal Attributes


Educational Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting or any other related field.

  • Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is required. Experience

  • At least 7 years’ Finance and Accounting experience in a financial institution.

  • Knowledge and skills requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, including the applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the Nigerian environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and numerate skills

  • Proficiency in the use of financial reporting software

  • Ability to multitask and function in a high-pressure environment.

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
