Job Description
- Responsible for managing the finance and accounting function of the business, ensuring the integrity of financial reports and providing strategic leadership to the financial performance of the Company.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain the books of accounts of the company, ensuring proper accounting treatment of all transactions.
- Finalize and issue the monthly management accounts and relevant performance reports for review by executive management.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection from customers.
- Ensure timely remittance of all statutory deductions to the relevant regulatory bodies.
- Monitor the preparation of CBN returns and all necessary regulatory returns and ensure accuracy of the returns.
- Manage all audits from CBN and other regulatory bodies and ensure all queries are addressed satisfactorily.
- Provide strategic guidance to the executive team, by providing all necessary financial information and analyses, to aid critical business decision making.
- Ensure timely payment to suppliers according to the company’s payment policy.
- Manage the yearly financial close and issue the financial statements of the company.
- Coordinate external audits of the company.
- Foster and manage relationships with banks and other relevant financial institutions.
- Manage liquidity and highlight liquidity risks and opportunities to the executive management in a timely manner.
- Conduct financial planning for the company and recommend initiatives for meeting the liquidity requirements of the business.
- Prepare and issue the monthly and annual company-wide budgets for the company.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and developments in the finance and accounting practice that may be of interest to the company.
- Attend weekly management meetings and contribute insight and information relating to the Company’s financial management.
- Make recommendations for the training and development needs of the Finance Department.
- Initiate and finalize performance appraisals for all members of the Finance Department.
- Any other duties as may be required by the company’s management.
Personal Attributes
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting or any other related field.
- Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is required. Experience
- At least 7 years’ Finance and Accounting experience in a financial institution.
- Knowledge and skills requirements
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, including the applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the Nigerian environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and numerate skills
- Proficiency in the use of financial reporting software
- Ability to multitask and function in a high-pressure environment.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
