Job Summary
- A non-governmental organization based in Abuja, dedicated to advancing human rights, public health, and tobacco control, is seeking a Finance and Administrative Officer.
- The Finance and Administration Officer will manage the financial and administrative operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation and compliance with accounting principles.
- Prepare and manage budgets, financial reports, and forecasts.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain liquidity to meet operational needs
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide financial analysis to support management decisions.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, local laws, and organizational policies.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Oversee the day-to-day administrative functions, including office supplies, support staff, equipment maintenance, and facilities management.
- Manage employee records, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies
- Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and purchase orders.
- Maintain an updated inventory of assets and ensure proper asset management.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that the organization’s financial practices comply with regulations and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability.
Qualifications
- A Batchelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in finance and administration preferably, within the NGO sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
