Position Overview: 



  • Lery Hago Travel is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer to join our team. As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our luxury travel company, ensuring that all financial activities are conducted in accordance with the latest International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • This role requires a Chartered Accountant with a strong background in financial management, tax compliance, and internal auditing.

  • The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of how travel packages are created to ensure that client invoices are accurate and comprehensive.


Responsibilities:



  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with IFRS.

  • Create and manage annual budgets, monitoring variances and providing recommendations for cost control.

  • Liaise with the travels department and sales & marketing unit to prepare and issue invoices to customers and vendors.

  • Process suppliers’ invoices and manage payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Ensure all accounts are properly reconciled with Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and other service providers.

  • Compute tax liabilities, file tax returns, and ensure compliance with government regulations.

  • Perform regular bank account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.

  • Manage payroll processes, including PAYE and pension computations, ensuring compliance with local regulations.

  • Prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly expense reports, providing detailed analysis of company expenditures.

  • Manage petty cash, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.

  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

  • Grasp and understand how travel packages are created to ensure accurate client invoicing.

  • Remit annual returns to the government as required by law.

  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

  • Perform any other financial duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications and Skills:



  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.

  • Professional Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance role, preferably within the luxury travel, hospitality, or related industry.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and strong knowledge of IFRS.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, tax compliance, and internal auditing.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Customer-Centric: Understanding of travel packages to ensure accurate and client-focused invoicing.
