General Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the company's technical efforts in the provision of the state-of-art power solutions across all business verticals: Residential, Commercial & Industrial, TELCo, SMEs, Mini-Grids and Utility Scale.
- Lead Technical and Innovation Efforts: Spearhead the company’s technical initiatives, driving the development and delivery of state-of-the-art power solutions across all business verticals, including Residential, Commercial & Industrial, TELCo, SMEs, Mini-Grids, and Utility Scale.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Encourage team members to think creatively and embrace a growth mindset to drive company success.
- Strategic Business Development: Take a proactive role in Technical Sales and Business Development, identifying new market opportunities, and driving growth through innovative power solutions. Collaborate closely with the business development team to align technical capabilities with market demands.
- Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Lead client interactions through emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings, building strong, trust-based relationships. Understand client needs deeply and tailor solutions to exceed their expectations.
- Energy Audits and System Design: Lead comprehensive energy audits at client sites, ensuring that the engineering and design of photovoltaic systems (on-grid, off-grid, hybrid) meet both client needs and industry standards. Drive innovation in system design to maintain the company’s competitive edge.
- Sales and Proposal Development: Craft compelling sales proposals that propel the sales cycle forward. Prepare and submit tender documents (including specifications, bills of quantities, drawings, etc.) and designs that meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Full Sales Process Ownership: Lead the entire sales process from proposal drafting to contract execution, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company objectives.
- Client Training and Support: Train clients on the operation and optimal utilization of systems, ensuring they achieve maximum value from the solutions provided.
- System Architecture and Budgeting: Develop detailed electrical Single-Line Diagrams and 3D visualizations to aid in initial system architecture and project cost budgeting. Encourage innovation in design to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Economic Viability and Analysis: Assess the economic viability and conduct cost-benefit analyses using available data. Design metrics to accurately determine energy and cost savings, contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
- Customer Experience and Satisfaction: Ensure customer satisfaction by effectively capturing requirements and delivering compelling presentations. Lead efforts to continuously enhance the customer experience, promoting long-term relationships and repeat business.
- Collaboration for Project Success: Collaborate closely with operations to establish and uphold the necessary requirements for the successful commissioning and acceptance of projects. Foster a mindset of continuous improvement in project execution and delivery.
REQUIREMENT AND SKILLS
You’ll be a good fit for this role if you have:
- Demonstrated understanding of Business Development, Energy audit and design, Project Management processes, strategies and methods
- An excellent critical thinking and decision making skills

- Always excited to mentor young Engineers and personnel
- Relevant technically and managerial related professional certificates
- A member of an Engineering Society, preferably COREN
- Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
- You currently lead a technically related team, run root cause analysis and provide technical project-based solutions in a telco, energy or utility sector. You lead from the front.
- You get things done, you are an execution expert with relevant certifications.
- You have a background in computer/electrical/mechanical engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. You are an engineer at heart and in practice.
- You have deployed, supported or managed projects scaling over 20,000 customers/service nodes across all system architectures: DC-Coupled, AC Coupled, AC-DC Coupled and Grid Tied
- You are hard as nails - you don’t take no for an answer, You are also very empathetic to understand people need time to adapt.
- Customers love you, you are really good with people, you work well with people - you are the life of the party.
- You are proactive, and on point. You are excellence personified.
- You have hands-on experience with electricity.
- You are on top of your game, Ideally you are a sector thought leader.
- You have a sound commercial acumen, with a data drive approach to decision making - an experience with P&L is really desirable.

- You would rate yourself a minimum of 8 in any of the following tools (Ms Project/Asana/Basecamp/Jira/Excel)
