A Nursing Officer is responsible for treating patients who are sick and injured, counselling, offering advice and emotional support to patients and their families, taking care of paperwork and providing advice and follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities
Check vital signs
Care of patient using the check list
Get patients ready for surgery
Ensure biometry is done for patient
Adequate take over of ward by ensuring room to room hand over.
Ensure post op vital signs
Ensure prescription sheet, lenses, appointment sheet are in the consulting room
Medications and injection for both in and out patients
Instillation of eye drops
Ensure instructions are carried out e.g dilation, navigation to procedure or pharmacy or counselling dept.
Enter details on the hospital EMR (Indigo)
Counsel patients and record appropriately.
Qualifications
Must be a Registered Nurse
A Post Basic qualification in Ophthalmic Nursing is an added advantage.
At least 2 years work experience in the same role

Good communication and people skills. Attention to detail. Able to work under pressure. Good technical and measurement skills.
Organized and methodical. Able to cope with the physical demands of the job.
Computer Savvy Skills:Proficient use of Microsoft office {Word, Excel, and Power point}.
