Overview



  • The Maker Technician (Technical Support) is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the performance of cigarette-making subassemblies at the Ibadan factory. This role ensures operational efficiency, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous production while adhering to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence:



  • Ensure optimal and consistent performance of all subassemblies.

  • Identify and reduce downtime caused by subassembly failures.

  • Track, monitor, and manage installed subassemblies to improve utilization and reduce costs.

  • Manage subassembly spare parts inventory to minimize downtime due to stockouts.

  • Conduct safety evaluations and audits on subassemblies to identify and address potential hazards.

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for new and existing subassemblies.

  • Perform 5S and safety audits to ensure compliance with operational procedures.

  • Coordinate maintenance scheduling with packing subassembly technicians.


Leadership:



  • Foster a culture of analytical problem-solving to prevent recurring failures.

  • Promote adherence to safety standards and procedures.

  • Implement 5S standards in the maintenance workshop.


Management:



  • Track subassembly spare part usage and consumption costs.

  • Monitor and improve subassembly breakdown rates.

  • Track subassembly failure rates.


Relationship Building:



  • Collaborate with technical staff as an integrated member of the technical team.

  • Work with maintenance leads to determine subassembly replacement frequencies.

  • Liaise with maintenance lead coaches to develop and deploy operational procedures.

  • Collaborate with making specialists to create maintenance orders for spare parts.

  • Work with maintenance leads to analyze subassembly breakdowns and implement corrective measures.


Innovation:



  • Develop innovative solutions to address challenges.

  • Evaluate and improve existing training, maintenance, and fault-finding methodologies.

  • Continuously improve machine uptime and quality.


Qualifications and Experience



  • Expert knowledge of cigarette-making subassemblies with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a production environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of technical training, fault-finding, and maintenance techniques.


Key Success Factors:



  • Highly trained and motivated technical workforce.

  • Robust systems for monitoring key performance indicators.

  • Compliance with EHS standards and audit recommendations.


Working Relationships:



  • Internal: Production Engineering Manager, Technical staff, R&R stores, Factory HR, other OpCos, OEMs, spare part suppliers.
