- The Head of Logistics will be responsible for developing logistics strategies that align with business objectives, aiming for cost-efficiency and operational scalability.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing transportation networks, overseeing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and optimizing processes using technology to enhance efficiency.
- The role also involves leading and mentoring logistics teams, managing the department's budget, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to report on delivery times, and costs.
- Ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards, and working with customer service to resolve logistics-related issues, are also essential.
KEY DUTIES
Logistics Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the overall business goals, ensuring cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, and scalability.
Transportation & Delivery
- Manage the transportation network to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery of products to customers.
- Oversee relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, couriers, and freight companies.
Technology & Process Optimization
- Implement and leverage technology (such as transportation management systems) to improve logistics operations.
- Continuously analyze and optimize processes to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team, including warehouse staff, fleet managers, and delivery teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
Budget Management
- Prepare and manage the logistics department budget, focusing on cost control, waste reduction, and maximizing return on investment.
KPIs & Reporting:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on performance metrics, including delivery times, cost per delivery, and warehouse productivity.
Customer Experience
- Work closely with the customer service team to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Address any logistics-related customer complaints or issues and implement corrective measures.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with legal requirements and safety standards, including handling, transportation, and storage of goods.
