Collects, processes, and handles blood and other biological specimens according to established procedures
Experienced in culture, biochemical testing and sensitivity and preparation of culture media.
Skilled in microbial staining and identification of microbes
Ability to identify organisms via microscope
Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid
Examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells
Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes
Develops and maintains cell/tissue cultures for testing purposes, as appropriate; isolates and identifies specimens, using advanced laboratory techniques.
Performs quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.
Performs calibration and troubleshooting on instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
Skilled in evaluating test results for accuracy
Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.
Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science with at least two (3) years post NYSC experience as a lab Scientist.
Must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria (MLCN), and a holder of a current practicing license.
Good judgment and decision making skills
Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft office Suite
Understanding of electronic and computerized equipment in laboratories
Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
