The Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of heavy equipment and machinery used in mining operations, including tippers and excavators. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of mining activities by minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring that all machinery is in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Perform repairs, maintenance, and servicing of mining equipment such as tippers, excavators, and other heavy machinery.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in mining equipment.
Ensure preventive maintenance is carried out on equipment to reduce the risk of breakdowns.
Use a variety of maintenance tools and equipment, including wrenches, diagnostic devices, and other specialized tools for heavy machinery.
Ensure that spare parts and tools are available and organized for maintenance tasks.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.
Continuously inspect machinery to identify any issues before they escalate into serious problems.
Requirements
Proven 1-5 years experience as a mechanic, specifically in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery used in mining (tippers, excavators, etc.).
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems related to mining machinery.
Proficiency in the use of maintenance and diagnostic tools.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple repair tasks efficiently.
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and equipment diagrams.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards repairs and maintenance.
