Job Description
- The Howo Mechanic and Truck Mechanic are responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Howo trucks and other heavy-duty trucks. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and performing repairs to ensure the trucks operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
Inspection and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough inspections of Howo and other trucks to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions.
- Interpret diagnostic reports and assess the severity of faults for timely repairs.
- Conduct road tests to confirm issues and ensure that repairs are effective.
Maintenance:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotation, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Inspect and maintain truck systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, and suspension.
- Lubricate moving parts, including ball joints, bearings, and gears.
- Ensure that trucks meet safety regulations and standards before returning them to service.
Repair:
- Perform repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including but not limited to engines, gearboxes, clutches, differentials, and drive trains.
- Replace worn-out components, such as belts, hoses, tires, brakes, and batteries.
- Weld, fabricate, or assemble mechanical parts as needed.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning engine parts, such as pistons, crankshafts, and connecting rods.
- Troubleshoot and fix any issues related to air conditioning and HVAC systems within the trucks.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
- Prepare service reports and communicate clearly with the workshop manager or supervisor regarding any major issues that require attention.
- Keep track of inventory, including tools and spare parts, and report when restocking is needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines in the workshop and field.
- Ensure all repairs comply with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards and local regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that safety precautions are observed at all times.
- Participate in safety training and awareness programs as directed by the management.
Qualifications
- B.Sc, HND or OND in Mechanical Engineering or in anay related field of study.
- A certification or vocational training in diesel mechanics, automotive engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in heavy truck mechanics, with at least 2 years working on Howo trucks or similar heavy-duty brands.
- Experience working in a workshop environment and on-site maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with Howo truck models and components is an advantage.
- The Howo Mechanic/Truck Mechanic will primarily work in a workshop, but some tasks may require fieldwork or on-site repairs.
- Must be available to work on weekends and public holidays as required.
- May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines or respond to emergency breakdowns.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing Howo trucks and other heavy-duty trucks.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic software, tools, and other related testing equipment.
- Welding and fabrication skills are an added advantage.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to analyze mechanical problems and find effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to Detail:
- Meticulous when conducting inspections and ensuring repairs are done correctly.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations during all maintenance tasks.
Communication:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to document work and communicate with team members.
- Ability to explain complex mechanical issues and repairs to non-technical staff.
