Job Description



Program Officer WASH will supervise the WASH projects implemented by HCOMDI. The main objective of the position is to support the Program Coordinator in the design, implementation, monitoring, and capitalization of WASH activities, standards, and policies are followed.


Main tasks and responsibilities for this position:



  • Ensure those project activities align and adhere to the project outcomes and outputs, ensuring that project implementation plans are in place and required measures to deliver project activities effectively are reflected in the plan.

  • Provide technical support in engineering design, Conceptualizing, work breakdown schedule, etc.

  • Ensure participatory effort among the partnership in considering cross-cutting issues such as gender, climate change, environment, and disaster risk reduction.

  • Ensure that partners coordinate and collaborate with their respective State actors and local counterparts and stakeholders, including national, State and local government line authorities.

  • Provide technical support in system strengthening working with community elders and WASH committees, as well as the inclusion of women, youth and people with disability in WASH programming and various WASH initiatives.

  • Ensure skill transfer to community stakeholders in building knowledge, skills, and technical capacity in WASH and implementing water supply projects in targeted Communities.

  • Lead in developing WASH training materials and technical manuals that CSO partners can use as reference material.

  • Collaborate with partners in organizing advocacy platforms and provide oversight in advocacy initiatives.

  • Provide technical guidance to WASH Forum in responding to evolving needs; enable local stakeholders to manage challenges brought about by changing needs; ensure that the programme is contextually relevant and take timely and appropriate actions to address issues.

  • Assist established/reactivated community WASH structures in tracking high-quality case/change stories. Support in record keeping, conducting risk analysis, and developing mitigation measures.

  • Contribute to developing a project monitoring plan and conducting regular monitoring visits to ensure project activities are on track.

  • Conduct joint monitoring visits with IPs, create enabling environment and learning opportunity for respective partners.


Qualifications/Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma or technical training in Public Health/Environmental Health, Community development or related field from a recognized institution.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a similar position with similar setting and responsibility.

  • Experience from both private and INGO sectors is an advantage

  • Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and systems for data management and reporting.

  • Hausa speaking is an added advantage.
