The Maintenance Technician – Truck is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a fleet of trucks used for transporting goods. The technician will ensure that all vehicles are maintained in optimal working condition and comply with safety and operational standards.
Job Responsibilities
Perform regular preventive maintenance on trucks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other routine services.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in trucks and conduct necessary repairs.
Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and lighting systems.
Use diagnostic tools to identify issues with truck systems and provide accurate troubleshooting.
Recommend repair solutions based on inspections and diagnostics.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records for all repairs and services performed on trucks.
Track parts usage and maintenance costs to provide updates to management.
Ensure all trucks meet regulatory and safety standards.
Perform regular safety checks on the vehicles and ensure that all work follows standard safety procedures.
Manage and order parts as required to perform maintenance and repairs.
Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order.
Respond to truck breakdowns and provide on-site repair services when necessary.
Assist drivers with troubleshooting issues on the road when applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related course.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in truck maintenance or a similar role.
Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret truck schematics and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with drivers and management.
