Description 

• We are currently in search of an experienced and dedicated Chief Engineer for our client’s vessel. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all engineering systems on board the ship.


• As the head of the engineering department, the Chief Engineer oversees the management, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's propulsion systems, power generation systems, and other mechanical and electrical systems.


• This role ensures that all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with the NIMASA and international maritime regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and supervise the engineering team, ensuring that all personnel under the department operate efficiently and safely.


• Assign duties to the engineering officers and crew, and ensure all personnel are properly trained and qualified for their tasks.


• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship's propulsion machinery, power generation systems, auxiliary systems, and all other equipment.


• Maintain and update safety procedures, including emergency response plans, and ensure that the engineering team is well-prepared for any potential emergency scenarios.

Qualifications and Requirements

• ND/HND or its equivalence from a recognized Nigerian institution.


• Valid Chief/ 2nd Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (COC)


• STCW Basic Mandatory Certificates
