Job Description

• We are currently in search of an experienced and dedicated 2nd Engineer for our client’s vessel.


• The 2nd Engineer will support the Chief Engineer to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all engineering systems on board the ship.


• Support the Chief Engineer in the management, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's propulsion systems, power generation systems, and other mechanical and electrical systems.


• This role ensures that all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with the NIMASA and international maritime regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Engineer to manage, and supervise the engineering team, ensuring that all personnel under the department operate efficiently and safely.


• Assign duties to the engineering officers and crew, and ensure all personnel are properly trained and qualified for their tasks.


• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship's propulsion machinery, power generation systems, auxiliary systems, and all other equipment.


• Maintain and update safety procedures, including emergency response plans, and ensure that the engineering team is well-prepared for any potential emergency scenarios.

Qualifications and Requirements

• ND/HND or its equivalence from a recognized Nigerian institution.


• Valid OOW Certificate of Competency (COC)


• STCW Basic Mandatory Certificates


• Discharge Book
