Job Summary



  • Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Veterinarian to join our team and manage the health and well-being of our diverse livestock population, including rabbits, snails, sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, and poultry.

  • The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal care, have a strong understanding of livestock health and disease prevention, and be comfortable working in a remote farm environment.


Responsibilities

Animal Health Management:



  • Conduct regular health checks and vaccinations for all livestock.

  • Diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases and illnesses affecting our animals.

  • Monitor animal behavior and identify any signs of distress or illness.

  • Oversee the implementation of biosecurity measures to protect our animals from disease.


Livestock Reproduction:



  • Manage breeding programs to ensure healthy and productive livestock.

  • Assist in the delivery of offspring and provide necessary care to newborns.

  • Monitor reproductive health and address any fertility issues.


Farm Management:



  • Assist with farm planning and operations, including feed procurement, pasture management, and facility maintenance.

  • Advise on best practices for animal husbandry and welfare.

  • Collaborate with other farm staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.


Record Keeping:



  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal health, treatments, and reproductive performance.

  • Prepare reports and documentation as required.


Emergency Response:




  • Be available to respond to emergencies and provide immediate medical attention t animals in need.




Education, Quality and Experience Qualifications



  • DVM or equivalent Veterinary Degree.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with livestock.


Skills:



  • Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, and reproduction.

  • Experience in diagnosing and treating common livestock diseases.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using veterinary software and technology.


Willingness:



  • To live on a remote farm.

  • To be relocated to any of our farm locations.
